Adult age is a complex concept that can be defined in several ways: physical maturity, psychological development or social behavior. The question we must find out is when does it really become an adult? In most countries, including the US, the official age to become an adult is 18 years old, which is when most people are already physically mature. Interestingly, one can go to war, register to vote and pay taxes, however, you cannot buy alcohol, the legal age of 21 years.
A person who can buy alcohol and fight for the country is still not enough to rent a car. One has to be 25 years old to rent a car, and if he is younger than that, consequently, he has to pay a surcharge. When it comes to mental maturity, people in their adolescence are mostly impulsive while taking risks and seem not to have their lives until they reach 20 years. Most university students are undecided over their future, and although they could be living alone, they still need a hand of support from their parents. The markers generally believed to become adults are: turning 18 or 21, get away from parents, get a job (stable), take care of a family, marry or have children.
According to recent investigations, the rational part of the brain does not develop completely until 25 years. This is the part of the brain responsible for decision -making and critical thinking. When a person turns 18, psychologically his brain is not fully developed to perform the required functions. This factor contributes to the fact that adolescents often react emotionally and impulsively when exposed to responsibilities.
A child can become an adult when he is responsible for himself, and needs to be mature enough to accept his actions without blaming others. To become an adult, one must seize life, not expect anything from others and be patient. An adult is independent in his decision, he feels sure enough to make decisions for himself, such as: choosing a professional career, deciding where to live and what work to take and choose what to become. People generally discover these questions around 30 years, as they could put it under pressure. Financial independence is an influential factor to become an adult. We cannot deny the value of money in today's society. Most adults are dealing with financial problems and are generally stressed. Once they become financially stable, you can administer your priorities accordingly.
Given all the factors, it makes sense that 25 is the age of adulthood.
